Ryan Moore is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Pheasant companies and chairs the firm’s investment committee. In the twelve years since he founded Pheasant, the firm has built a footprint of its own — holdings across most major producing basins in 15 states, more than 100 completed transactions, and an in-house underwriting team spanning engineering, geology, land, and finance. A fourth-generation member of a family that has acquired oil and gas rights since the 1930s, he has spent more than 20 years in the industry.
Before founding Pheasant Energy in 2014, Mr. Moore served as Chief Operating Officer of Moore Minerals, LC, the family office behind J. Hiram Moore, Ltd., established in the 1950s, where he directed land, revenue, and financial management for thousands of wells and mineral interests. Under his leadership since, the platform has expanded deliberately: Pheasant Resources, launched in 2017 as the acquisition and divestiture arm behind the firm’s transaction record across the Permian, Williston, and Anadarko basins, and Pheasant Exploration, launched in 2024 to extend into non-operated working interests, wellbore purchases, and joint ventures.
Mr. Moore serves on the boards of EE Systems, Inc., a gas compression product manufacturer; M1neral, LLC, an energy software company; and ZeoGas, LLC, a global methanol project headquartered in Houston, Texas. He is a member of the Fort Worth Wildcatters and serves on the Cook Children’s Board of Trustees.
Casmir Mason has spent more than 12 years in oil and gas finance, all of it on these assets. He began as an analyst at Moore Minerals, LC, the Moore family office, where he recovered millions of dollars in revenue and analyzed potential acquisitions, then rose at Pheasant from Analyst to Vice President of Finance to CFO. That tenure has produced detailed, asset-level knowledge of the portfolio across its full history.
He builds and owns the firm’s financial models and is responsible for forecasting, investment strategy, capital allocation, and financial reporting. Every acquisition the firm considers is subject to his financial analysis prior to the commitment of capital. He graduated cum laude at the top of his class and was selected for the BNSF Next Generation of Leadership Program at TCU’s Neeley School of Business.
Josh Randall is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Texas with more than 20 years in reservoir engineering. He spent seven years as a reservoir engineer at XTO Energy, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, in the Permian Basin, and later served as Senior Reservoir Engineer at Enduro Resource Partners, an exploration and production company with interests in the Williston Basin, Rockies, Texas, and Louisiana, where he ran reservoir characterization and optimization, field development, acquisitions and divestitures, and the annual budget and reserves process.
At Pheasant, he underwrites every acquisition the firm makes, developing the type curves, decline analysis, and deal economics in-house rather than relying on operator projections. He holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
Simianne Johnson-Hayden has over 30 years of experience as a petroleum geologist, primarily in the Permian Basin. She previously served as Senior Petroleum Geologist at BOPCO LP, a private oil and gas company owned by the Bass family of Fort Worth, Texas, and has personally overseen the geology, promotion, drilling, and evaluation of more than 160 commercially successful wells, with estimated reserves exceeding 10 million barrels of oil and 120 billion cubic feet of natural gas.
At Pheasant, she applies that record to every acquisition, evaluating landing zones, offset performance, and spacing risk in support of each underwriting decision. She is an active member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and of the West Texas and Fort Worth Geological Societies, and served as President of the Fort Worth Geological Society from 2000 to 2001.
Steven Sutton is a Certified Petroleum Landman leading the firm’s mineral and royalty strategy, land operations, and the ownership records that drive its sourcing. He previously served as Land Manager at Castell Oil Company, a private independent operator in the Anadarko, Powder River, and Permian basins, where he supported transaction execution and post-acquisition integration, with primary responsibility for Anadarko Basin assets. Earlier, he served as a Senior Landman at ConocoPhillips, contributing to exploration and development programs in the Delaware Basin and Barnett Shale.
At Pheasant, he maintains the ownership records underlying thousands of wells and tracts across 15 states, which serve as the foundation for the firm’s sourcing and for verification of every interest it acquires. He holds a BBA in Management Information Systems from Baylor University and is an active member of the American Association of Professional Landmen.
Amy Flores brings more than 20 years of experience in non-operated oil and gas operations. She previously served as Executive Assistant and later Executive Vice President at Duer Wagner III, Inc., a privately owned Fort Worth oil and gas company with primarily non-operated working interests throughout the United States.
At Pheasant, she oversees day-to-day operations, including accounts payable and receivable, cash management, and operator correspondence, ensuring consistent revenue administration across the portfolio. She holds a B.S. in Journalism from Texas Christian University.
